They had four strong legs, enormous bodies and powerful tails used for balance and defence. Sauropod footprints measuring 1.2 metres in length were discovered in Germany in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>According to Salisbury, the rocks containing the Dampier Peninsula footprints are 127\u2013144 million years old, predating dinosaur fossils previously discovered in Australia.<\/p>\n<p>In the same area, Australian researchers also found footprints left by six carnivorous dinosaur species and tracks of an armoured stegosaur.<\/p>\n<p>The study was initiated by the Goolarabooloo Aboriginal community, who knew of the footprints and feared that industrial projects could destroy them.<\/p>\n<p>Drones and light aircraft were used to photograph the dinosaur tracks on the Dampier Peninsula, a region known for rugged terrain, difficult weather conditions and strong tides.<\/p>\n<p>Sources: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-australia-fossils-idUSKBN16Z17Z\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Reuters<\/a><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Oamenii de \u015ftiin\u0163\u0103 au descoperit,\u00a0\u00eentr-o zona izolat\u0103 de pe coasta de nord-vest a Australiei, o amprent\u0103 de dinozaur de aproximativ 1.7 metri,\u00a0care ar putea fi cea mai mare\u00a0urm\u0103 de picior de dinozaur din lume, informeaz\u0103 Reuters.
