Otodus shark

Otodus is a genus of extinct sharks that included ancestors of Megalodon, the largest shark known to have lived on Earth. These sharks lived after the non-avian dinosaurs, from the Paleocene, approximately 60 million years ago, until the Miocene, approximately 23 million years ago.

The Otodus shark was a top predator of its era, consuming marine mammals, fish, and even other sharks. Specimens of this group of sharks could reach lengths of up to 12 meters.

Its teeth are found mainly in Morocco, can measure between 1–10 cm in length, and feature a triangular dental crown with two small side cusps. They may also exhibit serrations along the sides, thus marking the transition toward the famous Megalodon.
