The Mako shark is a genus of shark that has lived from the Miocene epoch, 23 million years ago, to the present day. It is a marine predator, feeding mainly on fish, cuttlefish, and other sharks. Specimens of this shark group reach between 2.5 and 4.2 meters in length, feature 147 dagger-like teeth, and are extremely fast and athletic.
The Mako Shark is the fastest shark and one of the fastest fish on the planet. It is known for its ability to leap great heights out of the water when hunting.
Mako shark fossils are found mainly in North America and Belgium.
