Holmesina giant armadillo

Holmesina is an extinct genus of mammal related to modern armadillos, characterized by armor composed of movable bony and keratinous plates, which lived in the Americas during the Pleistocene epoch, from approximately 2 million years ago to about 10,000 years ago.

Unlike modern armadillos, which are insectivorous or omnivorous, Holmesina was a herbivore that spent all day grazing. Furthermore, it was much larger than modern armadillos, reaching a length of 2 meters and weighing up to 227 kg, whereas a modern giant armadillo reaches a maximum length of 1.5 meters and weighs up to 54 kg.
