Adjustable handmade bracelet with Authentic fossilized Black Mako Shark tooth, 1.5 cm tooth length, 15 million years old, Miocene, Belgium

RON 39,99

Adjustable handmade bracelet, woven, made of waxed thread with an authentic fossilized Mako Shark tooth pendant. The tooth is approximately 15 million years old and comes from Belgium. A unique opportunity to wear a special piece of jewelry with an impressive past!

Sharks have a very large number of teeth, in multiple rows, which are replaced many times during their lives (even weekly). This, combined with the durability of the enamel and the long period of time they lived, means that fossilized shark teeth are common in various parts of the world.

Due to the age of the specimen, the tooth may have imperfections and repaired areas (glued sections) which are perfectly normal and unavoidable, but it is, overall, in good condition, with the enamel layer almost intact. Shark teeth from Belgium are found on riverbeds and are smoothed by the action of water over time. We invite you to carefully study the product photos to identify natural imperfections and possible repairs to the specimen.

Description

The Mako shark is a genus of shark that has lived from the Miocene epoch, 23 million years ago, to the present day. It is a marine predator, feeding mainly on fish, cuttlefish, and other sharks. Specimens of this shark group reach between 2.5 and 4.2 meters in length, feature 147 dagger-like teeth, and are extremely fast and athletic.

The Mako Shark is the fastest shark and one of the fastest fish on the planet. It is known for its ability to leap great heights out of the water when hunting.
Mako shark fossils are found mainly in North America and Belgium.
