Handmade necklace with Authentic fossilized Negaprion sp. Lemon Shark tooth, 2.0 cm pendant length, 6 million years old, Miocene, USA

RON 34,99

Handmade necklace with an authentic fossilized Negaprion sp. Lemon Shark tooth pendant on a silver-colored metal chain. The tooth is approximately 6 million years old and comes from the USA. A unique opportunity to wear a special piece of jewelry with an impressive past!

Sharks have a very large number of teeth, in multiple rows, which are replaced many times during their lives (even weekly). This, combined with the durability of the enamel and the long period of time they lived, means that fossilized shark teeth are common in various parts of the world.

Due to the age of the specimen, the tooth may have imperfections and repaired areas (glued sections) which are perfectly normal and unavoidable, but it is, overall, in good condition, with the enamel layer almost intact. Shark teeth from Belgium are found on riverbeds and are smoothed by the action of water over time. We invite you to carefully study the product photos to identify natural imperfections and possible repairs to the specimen.

Description

The lemon shark is a species of shark that has lived from the Miocene epoch, 23 million years ago, to the present day. It is a sociable shark that lives in groups and gives birth to live young. The name "lemon" comes from its yellow color.

A marine predator, it feeds mainly on fish and is not considered a danger to humans.

It can reach up to 3.4 meters in length. Its teeth feature an angle of nearly 90 degrees between the cutting edge and the root, with slight serrations on the sides.
