Handmade necklace with authentic fossilized Mosasaur tooth, 3.3 cm long pendant, 70 million years old, Cretaceous, Morocco

(1 customer review)

RON 39,99

Handmade necklace with an authentic fossilized Mosasaur tooth pendant on a silver-colored metal chain. The tooth is approximately 70 million years old and comes from Morocco. A unique opportunity to wear a special piece of jewelry with an impressive past!

Reptiles have teeth that are replaced many times during their lives (even weekly). This, combined with the durability of the enamel and the long lifespans, means that fossilized teeth of mosasaurs, plesiosaurs, pterosaurs, and dinosaurs are common in various parts of the world.

Due to the age of the specimen, the fragmentary nature of the fossil deposits in Morocco, and local extraction methods, the tooth may exhibit imperfections and repaired areas (glued sections) that are completely normal and unavoidable, but it is overall in good condition, with the enamel layer nearly intact. We invite you to carefully review the product photos to identify any natural imperfections or potential repairs on the specimen.

Description

Mosasaurs are an extinct group of aquatic reptiles related to modern-day snakes. In appearance, they resembled present-day Komodo dragons. They lived alongside dinosaurs during the Cretaceous period, between 145 and 65 million years ago.

Mosasaurs were apex marine predators, feeding on fish, birds, ammonites, other aquatic reptiles (including smaller mosasaurs), and even dinosaurs that ventured into the water. Numerous ammonite shells have been found bearing mosasaur bite marks. Like snakes, mosasaurs had flexible jaw ligaments that allowed them to open their mouths extraordinarily wide, enabling them to swallow prey whole.

The specimens of this group of reptiles could reach between 1 and 17 meters in length, depending on the species.
The teeth are found especially in Morocco; they can measure between 1 and 8 cm in length and have a thick base that gives them stability and strength.

    Excellent!

It was delivered exactly as shown in the photos. The necklace arrived on time and looks gorgeous!

The gift dinoglobe was a pleasant and beautiful surprise.

The way the necklace was packaged shows how much soul is put into this business.

I definitely recommend this site and will use it again in the future!

My only suggestion would be a way to prove the authenticity of the fossil. I am honestly convinced that it is real, but I am having a hard time convincing others.
