Description
Elosuchus is an extinct genus of crocodilian that lived in the Middle Cretaceous in what is now North Africa (Morocco and Algeria).
Elosuchus It had an elongated snout, like a gharial, and on its jaws were conical, unequal teeth, set in jaw cavities called alveoli. The body was dorso-ventrally flattened, covered with fleshy plates, doubled by bony plates, not fused together in the dorsal region, and the tail was also laterally compressed. It was probably a fully aquatic animal.
In general, modern-day crocodiles, caimans, gavials, and alligators have changed relatively little over time and are similar to their prehistoric relatives.
