Description
Nautilus is a genus of cephalopods related to octopus, cuttlefish, and ammonites, which appeared 400 million years ago, during the Devonian period, and still live today.
The specimens of this genus have helical shells divided into several internal compartments. To float in the ocean, they fill the internal compartments of the shells with air and blow water out to propel themselves. Along with fish, they were food for aquatic reptiles such as plesiosaurs and mosasaurs. The size of a nautilus can vary depending on the species.
Nautilus They are found fossilized in many places around the world, the most famous being those in Madagascar.
