Authentic Plesiosaur tooth specimen (most likely the species Zarafasaura oceanis), which is about 70 million years old, in a matrix. It comes with a plastic stand for display and is accompanied by a Certificate of authenticity signed by a professional geologist who performed the specimen’s expert analysis. The matrix is natural from Morocco, different from the one in which the tooth was originally discovered, but equally old, and may also contain other fragments of fossils! An interesting and exotic decorative piece!
Reptiles have teeth that are replaced many times throughout their lives (even weekly). This, combined with the durability of enamel as well as the long span of time they inhabited the Earth, means that fossilized teeth of mosasaurs, plesiosaurs, pterosaurs, and dinosaurs are commonly found in various parts of the globe.
Due to the age of the specimen, the fragmentary nature of the fossil deposits in Morocco, and local extraction methods, the tooth may exhibit imperfections and repaired areas (glued sections) that are completely normal and unavoidable, but it is overall in good condition, with the enamel layer nearly intact. We invite you to carefully review the product photos to identify any natural imperfections or potential repairs on the specimen.
