Authentic specimen of unprocessed fossilized sea sponge Siphonia france from France, approximately 90 million years old. An interesting fossil, contemporary with the dinosaurs!
Due to its age, the specimen may have imperfections and repaired areas (glued sections) that are perfectly normal and inevitable for such an old fossil, but it is, overall, in good condition. We invite you to carefully study the product photos to identify the natural imperfections and any possible repairs to the specimen.

Sea sponges Sponges are multicellular marine organisms that have bodies full of pores and channels that allow water to circulate through them. Sponges do not have complex nervous, digestive, or circulatory systems like other animals. Instead, most rely on maintaining a constant flow of water through their bodies to obtain food and oxygen and to eliminate waste. They are thought to be some of the most primitive animals alive today.
