RON 119,99

Authentic fossilized Dastilbe crandalli fish specimen from Brazil, approximately 115 million years old, in natural matrix. It comes with a plastic display stand and a Certificate of Authenticity signed by a professional geologist who assessed the specimen. An ancient fossil of a fish that lived alongside the dinosaurs! A beautiful decorative piece with a rich history!

Due to its age and local extraction methods, the specimen may have imperfections that are completely normal and inevitable, but overall it remains in good condition. The fish is not restored or colorized; it is in its natural state, just as it was found, with only potential repairs (glued sections) to the matrix! We invite you to carefully study the product photos to identify the natural imperfections and any repairs to the matrix.

Originally from Brazil, the specimen was acquired in Europe from an old European collection.

Description

Dastilbe crandalli was a small prehistoric fish. It had a fusiform, hydrodynamic body adapted for fast swimming, and typically reached approximately 6–18 cm in length. Dastilbe fed on algae, plankton, and small aquatic organisms, though some fossils show that larger individuals could also prey on smaller fish.
