Authentic Burmese amber with spider inclusion, 1.8 cm diameter, 90 million years old, Cretaceous, Burma/Myanmar

RON 449,99

Authentic Burmese amber specimen with spider and plant material inclusions, approximately 90 million years old. The specimen comes in a plastic box with a low-power magnifying glass lid and is accompanied by a Certificate of authenticity signed by a professional geologist who has examined the specimen. A true time machine, the owner of this amber specimen can look back in time to a spider preserved intact from approximately 90 million years ago, from the time of the dinosaurs!

Spider inclusions in Burmese amber are much rarer than insect inclusions!

The amber and the inclusion are authentic – the specimen has been tested under UV light, as shown in the photos (authentic amber takes on a milky blue or green color under UV light, unlike glass).

It is important to note that the spider measures a few millimeters, as larger spiders would have been able to free themselves from the resin before being caught. Thus, it is recommended to view the inclusion with a magnifier with 30x/45x/60x magnification power (the magnifier in the included box is not powerful enough). DinoShop.ro offers magnifying glasses with 30x and 60x magnification power in the category “Miscellaneous”.

The specimen may have cracks and imperfections, either natural or resulting from processing, but is, overall, in very good condition. We invite you to carefully study the product photos to identify the imperfections of the specimen.

Description

Burmese amber is made up of the fossilized resin of a tropical conifer that grew in the Burma/Myanmar area during the Middle and Late Cretaceous period, 105-90 million years ago. This tree is believed to have been part of the genus Agathis. The tree's resin was a defense mechanism against insects and other parasites. Thus, many insects, dust and plant material were trapped in this resin, which hardened and transformed first into copal, then fossilized and became amber, preserving all the inclusions with perfect detail.

Burmese amber is much rarer, older, harder, and oilier than other types of amber, and is the only commercial amber that was contemporary with the dinosaurs. It comes in a wide range of colors, from light yellow to dark orange and red.
