Authentic fossilized Bull Shark tooth, 2.0 cm long, 20 million years old, Miocene, USA

RON 24,99

Authentic fossilized Bull Shark tooth specimen from the USA, approximately 20 million years old, in a plastic case. A very old tooth of a fearsome predator!

Sharks have a very large number of teeth arranged in several rows and replace them many times during their lives (sometimes even weekly). This, combined with the durability of tooth enamel and the long span of time during which Sharks have existed, makes fossilized Shark teeth common in many parts of the world.

Due to the age of the specimen, the tooth may have imperfections and repaired areas (glued sections) which are perfectly normal and often unavoidable, but it is, overall, in good condition, with the enamel layer almost intact. We invite you to carefully study the product photos to identify the natural imperfections and possible repairs of the specimen.

Description

The Bull Shark is a species of shark that has lived from the Miocene epoch, 23 million years ago, to the present day. It is capable of swimming in both saltwater and freshwater, frequently traveling upstream along rivers. It is a marine predator, feeding mainly on fish, as well as other sharks. It is known as one of the most dangerous sharks, being responsible for numerous attacks on humans. It can reach up to 4 meters in length.

Its teeth are broad and triangular, reaching up to 4 cm in length, with serrations on the sides. Due to erosion over time, the serrations may no longer be present on fossils.
